Every drummer has a story, and so do we.
Back in 2010, I set out to turn my passion for drums into something bigger. There were two life goals I always wanted to accomplish, serving my country and building a community-based store where musicians could connect. I was fortunate to do the first as a United States Marine, and when I opened Drum Flip that allowed me to pursue the second.
What started as my side hustle, buying, refurbishing, and selling gear out of our garage, quickly grew into a passion for giving drummers a place to find quality gear without breaking the bank.
On July 19, 2015, that side hustle turned into reality when we opened the doors to Drum Flip in Vista, CA. Since then, the shop has grown by adding trusted names like DW, Yamaha, Meinl, Zildjian, Sabian, Tama and Ludwig to boutique brands you may not have tried yet. Our goal is to have unique finds, support local drum builders and have gear that you won’t find in big box stores.
Drum Flip is more than just drums. It’s about community. We host drummer swap meets four times a year, giving drummers a chance to connect with fellow musicians and sell their gear. We also take the store on the road with pop-up events in places like Las Vegas and Phoenix, bringing great gear and creating memories and new friends wherever we go.
Supporting the community is just as important to us. We’ve raised money for worthy causes by raffling off gear, and it’s been an honor to support organizations like Wounded Warriors, Rady Children’s Hospital, Feeding America, and the Red Cross.
At the heart of Drum Flip, it’s just the two of us, me and my wife Susan. To us, Drum Flip isn’t just a shop. It’s a neighborhood hangout for drummers near and far. It’s so exciting to meet drummers from all over the world.
