"Drum Flip is the store I always wanted to go to but could never find… so I built it."
– Ed, Founder
Our mission is to deliver world class drum gear, memorable service and to help you find the gear that inspires you at a price that fits your budget.
Drum Flip is a family and veteran-owned, independent drum shop run by a two-person team: Ed, the owner and driving force behind the shop and his wife Susan, who helps out whenever she can. Together, they keep things personal, hands-on, and rooted in their love for music and community. We like to have fun with our customers too.
We're passionate about drums and building real connections with the drumming community, locally and beyond. Thank you for choosing us!
“We’re more than just a shop. We’re a neighborhood spot where drummers can connect, trade stories, and find the gear they’ve been searching for.”
– Susan
In 2010, Ed started Drum Flip in his garage as a side hustle: buying, refurbishing, and selling drums to musicians around the globe. What began as a labor of love turned into a mission to create a store and online marketplace where drummers can find great priced gear, unique finds, and feel at home.
On July 19, 2015, the brick-and-mortar store opened in Vista, CA.
We carry a wide range of drums, cymbals, snares, hardware, and accessories you won’t find in big box stores. We are an authorized dealer for trusted names like DW, Ludwig, Gretsch, Tama, Pork Pie, Pearl, PDP, Meinl, Dream Cymbals, Zildjian, Sabian, Remo, Aquarian and many boutique brands from around the world.
Drum Flip connects with the drumming community through swap meets and pop-up shops. Our swap meets, held four times a year, give drummers the chance to sell their own gear, discover new finds, and network with fellow musicians. We also take the store on the road, bringing unique gear and good vibes to pop-up events in Las Vegas, Phoenix, and beyond.
Ed has always been driven. He started working at just 11 years old and hasn’t stopped since. He proudly served our country as a United States Marine and has worked as a school teacher, realtor, and in various sales and recreation roles. Through it all, his true calling has remained the same: helping people find great gear and creating a shop for drummers to connect.
When he’s not at the shop, Ed enjoys hiking, playing drums, drawing, and getting lost in video games—especially Fallout. His passion for music and community continues to fuel everything he does at Drum Flip.
Susan’s love of music began in elementary school. While she says she isn’t coordinated enough to play drums herself, she loves their artistry, presence, and face-melting volume. She dabbles in guitar and ukulele and also enjoys traveling, reading, coloring and writing. Susan helps out at Drum Flip when she can and loves being part of the Drum Flip community.
